Obama was booed on Monday during a fundraiser in Boston, after thanking the Red Sox for shipping Kevin Youkilis — one of the city’s most beloved sports stars — over to the Chicago White Sox.
“Finally Boston, I just want to say, thank you for Youkalis.” The crowd belted out a flurry of boos.
“I’m just saying, he’s going to have to change the color of his socks,” Obama responded.
“I didn’t think I was going to get any boos out here,” he added. “I should not have brought up baseball, I understand, my mistake, my mistake, you got to know your crowd.”
Uh huh, and a Boston crowd isn’t going to take such a joke lightly. I guess this is his way of “connecting” with his supporters.
The comical part is Jay Carney trying to spin the incident, saying the crowd was yelling “Yooook and not Boooo.”
But then he watched the video — and later conceded.
