Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are purportedly taking their first formal step in the proceedings against Attorney General Eric Holder over the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal. The case, which declares Holder in contempt, will be illustrated in a briefing paper and 48-page draft citation dispersed to congressional members on the committee.
Documents show that the DOJ has issued “false denials,” and has provided answers directed to confuse investigators. It also tried to intimidate witnesses.
The entertaining part is that there are people — in fact, so-called “respectable” journalists — who defend this guy; or they rail against the House GOP for expressing concern over a corrupt and reprobate U.S. Attorney General. Like, say, those from the Huffington Post:
Hmm, false denials, misdirecting investigators, intimidating witnesses, and obstructing an investigation that resulted in the death of a U.S. border patrol agent — no biggie.
