Not surprisingly, Obama’s White House Correspondents dinner is on A-list overload, featuring guests such as Steven Spielberg, Reese Witherspoon, Mary J. Blige, and George Clooney (duh).
I suppose both parties win. And ironically, it all seems quite capitalistic — involving all the purportedly gluttonous traits of money, fame, and notoriety. Obama gets a populist fiesta and Hollywood superstars get first-class promos for their upcoming movies and TV shows. Such fortune wasn’t an option in Soviet Russia, a political structure many of these schlubs — including the President — seemingly subscribe to.
There aren’t many on the guest list that will surprise you:
Zooey Deschanel, Kim Kardashian, George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, John Legend, etc.
There’s nothing like a party of multi-millionaires schmoozing and propagating about how we need greater income equality.
