Maybe, having the most prestigious positions in the world, U.S. President and U.S. First Lady, is just too boring. Or maybe, Barack and Michelle Obama and their daughters are just fulfilling their abiding role as one-percenters.
Regardless, Michelle’s weekend excursion to Aspen, Colorado for a venturesome ski vacation marks the 16th time members of the Obama family have indulged in extended vacations during the President’s tenure.
Accounting for trips out of Washington for several days, the total number of vacations Washington Secrets tabulated is 16… such as for Christmas and summer vacations, one by the president and five by the first lady. Not included were Camp David visits or trips like the first family’s New York City date night in May, 2009.
During these tumultuous economic times, my assumption is that the common folk are lucky to get one or two vacations per year.
