Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) have introduced a new piece of legislation, the Honest Budget Act - a bill designed to eliminate, or should I say, taper the congressional waste that plagues American taxpayers.
“The American people are very unhappy with Washington and they have a right to be,” asserted Sen. Sessions. “They believe that we’re not honest about our numbers, that we’re manipulating spending and that we’re driving up the debt to further our own agendas. [So,] we’ve examined the budget process over the last decade or more [and] we’ve identified nine distinct problems that tend to recur that represent manipulation of the truth when we deal with the public about the budget.”
Naturally, I wholly support this bill. But of course, the name in itself – the Honest Budget Act – gives you a pretty good idea of what’s going to happen. I would just hope that Mr. Reid puts the lid down after he flushes.
Quick mathematics lesson: Honest + Congress = Oxymoron.
